  • Dhammavinaya Encyclopedia

The Dhammavinaya Encyclopedia is the first comprehensive encyclopedia of the Buddha's teachings published in the Estonian language. Its purpose is to present the original teachings of Buddha Gotama in a systematic, academically rigorous, and accessible form, based primarily on the Pāli Canon (Tipiṭaka) and its earliest commentarial sources.

The encyclopedia currently consists of six volumes, all of which have been published first as electronic editions. Publishing the work digitally allows it to be continuously expanded, revised, and updated with new entries, research, and improved terminology.

The complete electronic edition is freely available at: https://dhammavinaya-entsuklopeedia.sangha.ee

The next stage of the project is the publication of the printed edition of the Dhammavinaya Encyclopedia, bringing together the entire work as a comprehensive multi-volume reference series.

As the publication of such an extensive scholarly work involves significant editorial, design, printing, and production costs, we are currently raising funds to make the printed edition possible. Every contribution helps preserve and make accessible the authentic teachings of the Buddha for present and future generations.

The Dhammavinaya Encyclopedia forms part of the long-term mission of the Estonian Theravāda Sangha to make the original teachings of the Buddha available in Estonian with the highest standards of textual accuracy, scholarly reliability, and linguistic consistency.
